How Save the Children gets involved
Save the Children has permanently adapted its services to the needs and social context. Thus, the objective of the projects developed for this category of youths is to ensure the grounds for deinstitutionalization, to create the skills for independent life and the children’s and youths’ socio-professional integration, through:

training for taking the capacity/baccalaureate examination;

qualification for a job for the youths who are going to leave the placement center and support for finding a job;

assisting the families with the view to reintegrating the youths in their biological family;

ensuring social apartments for the youths who do not have the possibility to go back to their biological family;

assisting and counseling the children and the youths from the target group with regarding to teach them independent life skills and the values specific to a democratic behavior (improving the inter-personal relations and communication skills, enhancing their self assertion, the development of adjustment and self-evaluation abilities, inducing the feeling of responsibility and social belonging);

training the personnel working in the Placement Centers.
Programs for institutionalized children/youths are carried out in Bucharest, Brasov, Caras-Saverin, Constanta, Dambovita, Galati and Suceava and combine the specialists’ professional work and volunteer involvement.
