A phenomenon of transnational criminality , which involves the most complex forms of organized crime, trafficking in human beings makes over 300.000 victims every year only in Europe. Being defined as modern slavery, trafficking in human beings for sexual or economical exploitation or for organ trade represents a serious menace for the respect of human rights.
Why modern slavery? Because the human being is not considered a person with full rights anymore and he/she is reduced to mere MERCHENDISE, sold and re-sold according to “abilities” and “qualities”. Traffickers “work” in real national and transnational networks, with a great power of penetrating the legislative systems, making use of huge financial resources. The annual “profits” brought by the trafficking in human beings are much higher than those obtained from drug use and dealing.
