Impact of Parents' Migration on Children Left at Home

In 2007 the Information and Documentation Center developed a qualitative research on the situation of the children whose parents are gone abroad to work. The main objective of the report is to make a sound analysis of the situation of these children left without parental care and to highlight the need of development of special social services that would provide the protection and the proper development of the targeted group. The three counties were the reasearch was driven (Suceava, Iasi and Piatra Neamt) register the highest number of children left home as a result of their parents' migration abroad to work.

Children Speak Out: Trafficking Risk and Resilience in Southeast Europe – Romania Report July 2007
Save the Children Romania

This report presents children's own perception of their lives, in their families, with their peers and the wider community. It presents their fears as well as their hopes and dreams and gives valuable insight and understanding to anyone who is committed to improving children's lives, protecting them from abuse and exploitation and helping them fulfill their aspirations. The views of parents, teachers and other responsible adults are also presented for interesting comparison.

 


Children Speak Out - Regional Report
Save the Children has carried out an extensive, field-based research in 7 countries/entities in Southeast Europe, speaking to more than 600 children in individual interviews and focus-group discussions on how they perceive the risks of trafficking and exploitation, what are their own strengths and coping mechanisms and how states and civil society can better provide protection and assistance to children most at risk.

The assessment on the situation of children working in Bucharest provides the decision makers with a detailed view on the dimensions, causes and consequences of the worst forms of child labour.

The main purpose of the report is to evaluate the manner in which the Penal law and especially the proceedings are dealing with the under age victim of a sexual abuse.
