EU Domestic Cooperation Officer

CONTRACT LENGTH: Fixed term 12 months with possibility of renewal

ROLE PURPOSE:

The EU Domestic Cooperation Officer in Save the Children Europe will play a role in promoting the identification of programmatic synergies across the Movement in Europe on child poverty, children on the move, child participation and child protection, with the goal to support the Domestic Account to secure funding for Save the Children’s cross-country initiatives in Europe.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :
 

  • Liaise with domestic programmes in Europe and all relevant groups and working groups within the Movement to identify synergies and the transnational upscale of successful programmes and approaches in the areas of child participation and rights, child poverty, children on the move, child protection, climate and MHPSS
  • Support the further setup of the EU Domestic Account by working with the EU Domestic Funding Manager in the areas under development, e.g. capacity building, partnership building, SOPs
  • Work together with the EU Domestic Funding Manager to ensure access to EU funds for Members and Offices in EU MSs and pre-accession countries
  • Coordinate the development of transnational project proposals with the participation of Save the Children Members and Offices
  • Be a strong member of the Save the Children Europe team, contributing to the development and implementation of the annual work programme.

QUALIFICATIONS 
  • Education to Master’s level, with a qualification in economics, politics, law, human rights or a related field is desirable. Education to Bachelor’s degree level is essential;
  • 4 to 6 years of relevant professional experience;
Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English are essential. Knowledge of other languages is considered as a plus.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • Demonstrable experience in fundraising from EU direct and indirect-management funds to support programmes in the context of a non-governmental organisation or international organisation; additional experience of EU structural funds is an asset
  • Knowledge and understanding of the EU, its social policies and its funding modalities
  • Programmatic experience in EU-funded projects on children’s rights, child poverty, children on the move and/or child protection is an asset
  • A proven track record of successful project proposals funded by DG JUST, DG HOME, DG EAC/EACEA and/or REA; a track record of proposals funded by other Agencies and/or through the EU structural funds and experience in budget development is an asset
  • Experience in training peers on fundraising is an advantage
  • Experience of creating networks of influence, and an ability to manage diverse professional relationships, internally and externally
  • Experience of successfully operating in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • A full appreciation of the value of cooperation within a team environment
  • A commitment to and an understanding of NGO work on a European level
  • Commitment to Save the Children’s values
  • Ability to work and write in English
